Valamis pilots four-day workweek in Finland
Valamis the global leader in digital learning technologies and workforce development, will be piloting a four-day workweek among its employees in Finland.
Joensuu, Finland, 19th October 2022. Valamis, the global leader in digital learning technologies and workforce development, will be piloting a four-day workweek among its employees in Finland. Those employees who wish to participate in the pilot will work 80% working time with 90% of their monthly salary. The pilot will be initiated to see if it will improve employees’ overall wellbeing and productivity.
Valamis’ four-day workweek test follows other companies’ success in trialling a reduced workweek. Several studies have shown that at some point, productivity decreases as the number of hours worked increases and vice versa. According to these studies, a four-day workweek can in fact increase employee productivity by 20 per cent, which can compensate for the reduction of hours from 37.5 to 30 per week.
“The idea behind a four-day workweek is to achieve the same results in fewer hours, so employees have more time to pursue other interests, spend time with loved ones, and manage their lives. Studies also show that shorter workweek can decrease burnout, reduce stress levels, and strengthen overall employee wellbeing”, says Maria Vihtkari, Chief Human Resources Officer at Valamis.
Valamis offers 24/7 customer service to its customers globally. “This worktime pilot does not affect the availability of our customer support”, Maria Vihtkari states. “Our customers can rest assured that support is available whenever they need it.”
The pilot period spans from November 2022 until the end of April 2023. The results will be assessed to see if the practice will be continued and branched out to all of Valamis’ operating countries.
